It is also used for cheese making as well as a dough-strengthening and raising agent. Manufacturers sometimes use it instead of sodium chloride (salt) since it has the added benefit of calcium, an essential mineral.

CONSTRUCTION

Calcium Chloride is the most commonly used accelerator for concrete, Calcium Chloride in concrete has shown to be beneficial for early strength and accelerated set times. Calcium Chloride is one of the oldest and most successfully used concrete accelerator and early strength admixture used in the concrete industry.

FIRE FIGHTING

Calcium Chloride is also used in fire fighting solutions where extinguishers are required to be operated at extremely low temperatures. As Calcium Chloride has strong anti-freezing properties it is mixed with water in the extinguisher chamber and excess is provided to calcium chloride to react.

PAINTS

One of widest user of Calcium Chloride is paints industry; it is extensively used as a solidifying agent in paint production. Calcium chloride is also used as waterproofing additive incase of cement based paints because of its faster curing properties.

ROADS

For roads Calcium Chloride is used to suppress formation of dust. It keeps the finer dust particles on the road, providing a cushioning layer. If these are allowed to blow away, the larger aggregate begins to shift around and the road breaks down. Using calcium chloride reduces the need for grading by as much as 50% and the need for fill-in materials as much as 80%

OIL AND GAS

Calcium Chloride is used in establishing and maintaining oil and gas wells. It helps well fluids gain needed consistency, increases density and stabilizes shale formations. As a completion fluid it seals well casings and displaces drilling mud. In short, Calcium Chloride is used in several applications for new or existing wells to improve efficiency and production.
